Welcome to a new weekly feature, That Was The Week That Was or simply TWTWTW; where we briefly discuss the news and gossip for the week. Rather than do it daily and join every other blog in existense, we will skim over the tabloids so you can catch up with who’s doing what with who and maybe report on some other noteworthy stuff as well. So here goes with edition one!
Sean Bean, one of the UK’s best kept secrets who is finally getting his cudos in North America is in trouble with his 4th ex wife!
It seems he will not face any charges stemming from his arrest in May for allegedly harassing his ex-wife with abusive text messages and emails. In a statement from the London Metropolitan Police to E! News “[A] 53-year-old man attended a Central London police station by appointment on May 9, 2012, where he was arrested on suspicion of harassment and bailed pending further enquiries. He has since been released with no further action,” they would not comment on whether anyone was required to give fingerprints and DNA samples.” The actor reportedly handed himself over to authorities after the claims were made against him by his fourth ex-wife, Georgina Sutcliffe. Sean is another UK bad boy as this isn’t the first time he has been in trouble. Last year he was stabbed in the arm outside a North London pub during an argument.
Meat Loaf being an ***hole!
Michael Aday better known by his stage name of Meat Loaf is suing an alleged fan and impersonator. According to reports from TMZ, the star recently filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court against U.K. native Dean Torkington for registering a domain by the name “MeatLoaf.org” and refusing to remove the site when asked. Seems Torkington is using the site to promote his own act, which is actually a tribute to Meat Loaf which he calls “To Hell and Back: A Tribute to Meat Loaf.” Meat Loaf accuses the man of cybersquatting??? and claims that the site is misleading and created in bad faith in order to confuse fans and cause them to mistake the impersonator for the real musician. In his lawsuit Meat Loaf is hoping the site will be shut down and is also requesting a hefty sum of $100,000 in damages. What? you need the money that badly? What happened with Donald Trump?
Andy Griffith Cause of Death Ruled Heart Attack
Andy Griffith’s death certificate says the 86-year-old actor’s death earlier this week was caused by a heart attack, according to news reports.
Griffith suffered attack 24 hours before he passed away.
Andy Griffith died early Tuesday. Medical examiners also say suffered for years from other illnesses, including coronary artery disease, hypertension and hyperlipidemia. We mourn his passing, he was a man of class, maybe some of the over paid new breed of actors should take note.
Tom Cruise Source Says Scientology NOT Behind Split
Biggest story this week was of course about Tom and Kate divorcing. Katie Holmes may say her decision to divorce Tom Cruise is over Scientology, but sources close to the actor says it’s not and she’s motivated by something else. A source close to Cruise tells TMZ that Holmes’ camp is leaking false stories to the media claiming she’s trying to save Suri, their daughter, from the grips of Scientology. But, as the well-connected Tom source put it, “She [Katie] was totally committed.”
“She had a great enthusiasm for Scientology and would voluntarily and gladly participate in it, including when Tom was off shooting movies.” It’s possible, of course, that Katie was committed to it because it was important to Tom, but soured on it of late because of Suri, as reports claim. Still, Cruise sources claim Suri is being used as a weapon against him and that his now-estranged wife is making it very hard for him to talk to her.
As for what Tom’s people say the divorce is really about if it’s not really Katie’s fear of Scientology, they won’t say yet, but promise “it’s coming.”
Meanwhile, a Holmes source says that Tom Cruise controlled her like a manager or puppet master, making every major and minor decision for her.
Well, get ready for a slew of inuendos and Lord knows what about this; maybe next a waiter or masseur will admit he’s Cruise’s lover and we have a new John Travolta story, wait, maybe it could be the same man!!
Jane Pitt, Brad Pitt’s Mom, Writes Anti-Gay, Pro-Mitt Romney Editorial
Brad Pitt has been a vocal advocate for gay rights, so it came as a bit of a surprise to learn that his mom write an editorial in her local Missouri newspaper that supports presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s conservative views on homosexuality.
In her response, which was published on Tuesday, she wrote: “I think any Christian should spend much time in prayer before refusing to vote for a family man with high morals, business experience, who is against abortion, and shares Christian conviction concerning homosexuality just because he is Mormon.”
“Anyone who does not vote or writes in a name is casting a vote for Romney’s opponent, Barack Hussein Obama – a man who sat in Jeremiah Wright’s church for years and did not hold a public ceremony to mark the National Day of Prayer.” Obama, she writes, is “a liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage. I hope all Christians give their vote prayerful consideration because voting is a sacred privilege and a serious responsibility.”

Anderson Cooper admits He’s Gay – Wait, didn’t we already know this?
In a well-reasoned, intelligent, thoughtful statement this week, Anderson Cooper came out to the public this week as a happy, proud gay man. Which is probably the worst kept secret in the media, I thought we all knew this ages ago, I have no idea what the trouble is, but Star Jones, her with the weight see saw is saying it’s all for the ratings. Asked about Cooper’s announcement by Natalie Morales of The Today Show, the former View co-host said “I’m a little bit of a cynic” and added of Cooper: “He’s a daytime talk show host and when the rating slip in daytime, the hosts tend to tell you lots of things about them and Cooper had a motive beyond mere honesty for his public reveal.” So what’s your story then Star?
Prince William: Knighted in Scotland! A nice story for all the Will and Kate fans
With the lovely, supportive Kate Middleton by his side, Prince William was knighted as a member of the Order of the Thistle in Scotland on Thursday. He received the title from his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, the highest honor she can bestow in Scotland around his 30th birthday last month.
In a nod to her Scottish title, the Countess of Strathearn, Kate Middleton wore a soft yellow coat dress specially made for her by Emilia Wickstead.(thought I’d throw that in case you want to go buy a coat like it!)
Kate Upton Too Fat, diet website claims, Are you kidding me??
Kate Upton has gained a massive following due to her sexy curves, but surprisingly, her famous figure has landed her a number of harsh critics as well. Modeling’s newest “it” girl is a frequent punching bag of the website SkinnyGossip (dot) com, which has been linked to promoting anorexia in the past. Seems this site features a list of “Starving Tip[s] of the Day” aimed at impressionable girls. No wonder Kate Upton has become its mortal enemy. SkinnyGossip refers to Kate with terms such as “thick,” “lardy,” “squishy brick,” “pregnant,” “well-marbled” and even “cannibal” (for her Carl’s Jr. ad), which is the best sexiest ad shown on US tv for years,; have you seen it?
An anti-Upton post on the site reads: “Is this what American women are ‘striving’ for? The lazy, lardy look? Have we really gotten so fat in this country that Kate is the best we can aim for?”
Victoria’s Secret casting director Sophia Neophitou also had some harsh words for the model and her voluptuousness, telling the New York Times: “We would never use her. She’s like a Page 3 girl. She’s like a footballer’s wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can buy.” (Can you believe this from a company that pushes, oh wait that’s a play on words, push up bras for less endowed teenagers)
Fortunately, this awfulness hasn’t seemed to faze the 20-year-old or millions of male admirers.
And Finally for this week, Kim Kardashian Covers InStyle, Still Believes in Love (and a nice settlement)
Kim Kardashian graces the August cover of InStyle and you simply won’t believe all the things she tells the magazine about her marriage to Kris Humphries and her relationship with Kanye West. Okay, maybe.
“I’ve always believed in love,” Kardashian says for the nth time, reciting the same lines about her divorce written months ago by some PR firm. “I haven’t always been so lucky, but I still do believe in it, I loved this person, it just wasn’t the right situation for me. I try to hold my head up high and live my life.”
